Memories Captured – January Linkup

Congratulations Julia of Elated Exhaustion, you’re the winner of one StoryPillow™ from movingstories! Thank you all for linking up with us. Next month’s Memories Captured is February 11-15, and Galit and I have news!

I had grand plans to show off a gift my lovely friend Ado of The Momalog gave me for my baby shower, back in April last year, for this month’s Memories Captured. I was going to take amazing pictures of the boys with it, and tell you the story of how it came to be.

Alas, we hit some shipping snags and the gift is still in the US. As to why the gift is not here after 9 months, it’s all my fault. I’ll explain why.

Ado gifted me this – the amazing StoryPillow™, created by movingstories LLC, sewn by Kate Albus (so talented!).

Front, back and additional details of the Pillow. Names of my boys and their details have been changed to protect their privacy.

Isn’t it special?  The StoryPillow™ has their birth details, photos, and little scrolls with quotes I chose for each of them. It has pockets, and additional toys that can be kept on and inside of it. This was literally a labor of love for me, Michelle of movingstories, and Kate, the seamstress. That is part of the reason it took so long – I was collecting photos for MONTHS before I submitted them to Michelle, who was ever-so-patient with me.

And?

Galit and I are so pleased to be giving one lucky linker this month, the gift of their very own StoryPillow™!

So instead of pictures of the boys with their pillow, this is what I’ve got.

The boys on their playmat, NOT fighting. Hence, a picture was required.

The boys on their playmat, NOT fighting. Hence, a picture was required.

I did not misspell ‘sunshine’. It’s deliberate, sonshine. It’s just adorable and true. These two boys make my days so much better (even when one has a meltdown and the other is crying along because he doesn’t know what’s going on – ah well). They are playing together which is such a joy to watch (although a few minutes after this picture was taken, they were fighting over the drum). The little one is enamored with his brother, and wants everything he has, and do everything he’s doing. Which results in, well, fighting. No one gets hurt, not to worry. Mama is here to referee!

Watching them together – it reminds me that although this parenting is hard, oh-so-very-hard on some days, it’s worth it. Giving them the gift of each other. Making memories together.

And now, they’re on a StoryPillow™ together. Hah! Love. It.

Your turn to link up! Galit and I can’t wait to see what gorgeous memories you’ve created so far in 2013!

I was not compensated for mentioning and praising Michelle, Kate and movingstories. The StoryPillow™ was a gift, and I just loved the idea so much, I approached them for a sponsorship of one StoryPillow™, for our Memories Captured linkers, to which they generously agreed. The winner will receive a basic StoryPillow™ worth $250 and pay for their own shipping, within the US. movingstories LLC makes movies and mixed-media art using film, photography, songwriting, collage, fabric and more.
