What’s My Life’s Theme Song? (Not Really About Songs)

posted in: Link Up, Random 19 comments

I won’t bore you about the lack of writing (or rather, publishing, I’ve been writing some), reading and commenting on blogs, responding to comments, and all things social media. Just know that life is full of living, the kids are on school break, the twins are thriving, work is busy, there are new books to be read, and I’ve been eating a bunch of chocolate.

Elaine’s  Old School Blogging is always great on days like these, when I want to be here on this ol’ blog. Thank you, Elaine!

If you could be on a reality show which one would you choose?

Any home remodeling show that involves MY home getting remodeled.

Name one thing you have saved from your childhood?

What’s the opposite of a hoarder? I am that. I saved nothing from last year, never mind something from 30 odd years ago.. When we decided to stop at two children, I immediately purged all baby things. Well, we know what happened next. We’ve had to re-buy a lot of thingswe shouldn’t have had to. Sigh. However, my mother never throws things away. I’m pretty sure she saved some stuff. I do wish I’d kept Minnie, my favorite pink stuffed toy. (I thought she looked like a mouse. )

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

Lovely Day by Bill Withers. Life hasn’t been without its challenges, and I’d be lying if I said that every day was a lovely one, but for the most part, it has been pretty darn good.

Where is your happy place?

My immediate response to this in my head: my children. Wherever they are. I said to a friend recently, no matter how hard it is with four kids all so young, for the most part, it’s not as hard as it can be. Some days are easy, many days are good (see theme song above). My other answer would be, the countryside. Our time in Normandy, France, was one of the best times ever.

What is one thing about your home that you and your spouse disagree on?

Nothing. We’ve lived in our current place for 3 1/2 years, and it’s as it should be. All decisions we’ve made on this home,  have been made together.

What is your favorite fruit?

Mangoes, strawberries, blueberries, apples, watermelon, cherries! I love fruit.

Bowtie or regular tie?

For my boys, bowties.

Not a real bowtie

Not a real bowtie

Mexican or Italian (food, not men)?

Italian. I am obsessed with pasta. I worked in a Mexican restaurant in London, summer 1998. I ate a lot of burritos, enough to last me a lifetime, so no thank you.

Where do you want to go on Summer vacation?

Well, we don’t have seasons here, so pretty much, I’d like to travel all year round if possible. We’re planning a trip to Australia in September/ October, when it’s Spring there. I’d love to go back to France some day. The summer I turn 40 (that’s next year!), I’d love to visit some of my bloggy friends in the US. Except it’s a big country and everyone’s all over it. Where should I go?

Perth, Australia

What are your go-to shoes in your closet?

My black DKNY flip flops, which I got on sale in Australia in 2013. I wear them daily. Never mind that I have like 50 pairs of shoes in my closet. Motherhood and high heels don’t go together for me, sadly.

You should go to New England! And California! They’re nearly touching! (by 3,000 miles)
Sigh. If you make it happen? They will come to you. By “they” I mean me.

I like your happy place answer, Alison. Because that’s really what it is all about isn’t it? Anywhere where “together” happens. That is happy for me too.

Last year, around Christmas time was the first time in ages that I bought heels, and then 2 pairs even. With both hubby and I working out of the house and both of us expected to attend company Christmas parties, it was time to invest in some new ones. They are not too high but still heels and I did enjoy wearing them! But this week, it’s all about the flip flops… it’s Spring Break, it’s Florida and the beach is calling. 🙂

I have my old stuffed animals – it’s the only thing I have from my childhood since I left Denmark when I was 18 and didn’t think I would want any of those things – ever again… I was wrong!
Come to Florida – it’s “almost” like Australia – except not as awesome!

Come to the Garden State (I promise it’s way nicer than reality TV would have you believe), plus a hop, skip, and a jump from NYC.

Awww, I <3 that song and would also like those remodeling twins (Property Brothers?) to come by. Granted, we live in a shoe, but you know, the place could use some sprucing up. Plus, they're hot as hell, LOL.

Hope all is well with you, momma. XOXO
