HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Through The Lens Thursday is a one-year photography project (now in its second year), where every week, my project partner, Greta of GFunkified and I, will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.
This week’s prompt is New.
I have a newly turned 5 year old. FIVE. One whole hand! How did that happen?
I don’t know what five holds for us yet, but I know you’ve come a long way from three to four, and throughout four.
My dear boy. What giant leaps you took this past 12 months. More than the inches you grew, the words you’ve gained, the skills you’ve acquired, and the new siblings you’ve embraced – you have taken big steps towards becoming the person you are meant to be.
You are kind and helpful; affectionate and unfailingly polite. You are playful and fun; loving words and all it entails (which makes your writer mother a happy girl). You read and spell some words, which is SO awesome. You love taking pictures and have mastered the selfie (omigosh).
You can also be a giant pain the ass. But you wouldn’t be a kid if you weren’t.
I think this year, you will come into your own more. You will take bigger, more confident strides towards six. I can’t stop the growing up, so I will learn to embrace all the milestones you continue to reach.
Happy Five, my firstborn. The one who made me a mother, who taught me that I know nothing, who took the first piece of my heart out and gave me back more.
I love you to the moon and back and beyond.
Next week’s prompt is Colorful.
