Through The Lens Thursday: Colourful

posted in: Photography, Through The Lens Thursday 40 comments

Through The Lens Thursday is a one-year photography project (now in its second year), where every week, my project partner, Greta of GFunkified and I, will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.

A photography project

 This week’s prompt is Colourful.

Colorful 1
Oh look, BABY THIGHS! This should be for next week’s prompt, delicious.

Colorful 2

My littlest boy. Sometimes, my guilt over the fact that he’s my third boy, born alongside our only girl, overwhelms my good senses. Because I don’t love him any less than my older boys or his sister. However, I think that first impressions, based on my social media feed, is that my attention is on my little girl.

Her fashion posts (I might do a post with all her outfits!), the fact that she has more clothes than me and anyone else in the household, my constant declarations of OhMyGoodnessIHaveADaughter! –  if he saw them in the future, he’ll probably think I love him less.

I am here to tell you, my littlest, I don’t love you less. I love you as much. Sometimes, you are my favorite child (that changes by the minute, by the way).

Those thighs help too.

Next week’s prompt is Delicious.

For the full list of prompts, check out my Through The Lens Thursday page. If you’d like to join Greta and I, but not necessarily blog your picture, join our Flickr group, where we upload our photos, and give comments, or helpful critique on each other’s photographs.

I wouldn’t think for a minute that you love one more than the other… how on earth could you even choose between those two? I am literally gasping for air every stinkin’ time I see your pics on FB… They are both pieces of HEAVEN.

PS. I like the photo – I can see the crispness of the cotton.

One of my friends, the fourth in her family, once remarked that for a long time, she didn’t understand why there were so few pictures of her from her childhood. Then she had three children an realized how her mom just didn’t have time! I’m sure your son will feel your love for him so strongly that whatever your social media feed may seem to indicate will be completely irrelevant! And also, there is just no competing with little girl clothes.

there is nothing cuter — or more scrumptious too perhaps? – as baby thighs!! So cute. Love the colourful pjs.

Aww.. baby thighs would be a good prompt, indeed.
I know you love them all the same. Or that they’re all your favorite, and that.. can vary. That happens in this house.
The little girl is delicious, but your posts about this little one shine just as much.

  • January 9, 2015 Kim

So much sweetness! This reminds me that I sometimes feel bad that we have more framed photos of my oldest. We have lots of photos of my youngest, they just haven’t made it into frames. That might be a good winter project for me, perhaps?

Yes! Do it! I actually have MORE photos of the twins, and my second boy, than I do of my first. It’s because I got a better camera, and I was focused on photography πŸ™‚

  • January 10, 2015 Kimberly

It’s funny because every morning, your daughter is the first face I see on my facebook feed LOL!!!

    Them thighs…nom nom nom.

    • January 27, 2015 Alison

      That’s a good thing, right?

  • January 10, 2015 Janice

    Baby thighs! Squish!
It’s been so wonderful seeing your babies on all your social media. Your twins are both beautiful. But I totally understand about taking more pics of one than the other. I find myself taking more pics of the baby nowadays than my other three kids. So I literally have to consciously count how many pics of the baby I’ve posted every day and balance it out with the others. LOL Ah….motherhood!

I definitely take more pictures of the twins than I have of my older boys. And I can’t think about balancing the number of photos of each child, lol.

  • January 10, 2015 Charlotte

Awwwwww, baby thighs! They look scrumptious πŸ™‚ So cute. I’m sure it’s difficult–after having a household of boys, of course you’ll be excited about a girl in the mix. And all the cute girly outfits!

I love this outfit on him, by the way. Cute!!!!!
