This Is Me

This post is inspired by Shell’s That’s Me

I wash my hair every morning, because it gets greasy if I don’t. Yes, I shower daily, first thing. Tropical weather with 100% humidity – enough said.

I arrange my toiletries in order of usage, from left to right. So, facial cleanser, toner, moisturiser, left to right. Same with shampoo, conditioner, body wash.

I like doing dishes. I can’t leave dirty dishes in the sink. I wash as I cook/ bake. No, we don’t have a dishwasher.

I wash dishes when I’m at someone’s house for get-togethers, especially of they’re large ones, with lots of people. It’s an introvert thing, I think. I don’t have to be in the thick of socialising with others, I’m doing something useful, and I can be alone. Sometimes, people wander in and chit chat. I like that, one on one conversation.

I don’t take sugar in my tea or coffee.

I hate fruit teas.

I don’t like brightly lit rooms. Our living room is always dim.

Mess drives me nuts.

I love board games, but haven’t played one in years.

I read really fast.

My handwriting is terrible. Even I can’t read it sometimes.

Speaking of handwriting, I am not a journaler. I’ve tried several times, and failed. When I was a teenager, I did write in my ‘diary’ occasionally, but that didn’t last.

However, I love collecting notepads and journals.

I love online shopping. A little too much, ahem.

That’s because I enjoy giving gifts. It’s my love language. Being so far away from so many good friends, online shopping has been really useful.

I listen to music when I write.

 My favourite word is ‘oxymoron’.

My least favourite word is ‘poodle’.

I am not a fan of poetry. Don’t hate me, poetry lovers.

I love watching plays.

I haven’t watched a play in years.

I really enjoy writing random facts about me posts.

I wash my hair every day too. It doesn’t look bad second day, but my sense of smell is too sensitive and I hate the smell of dirty hair. I read really fast too. If a book has me really engaged I can usually finish it in an evening.

It is a funny word, isn’t it? I’m glad you do, because I’ve been writing a lot of them lately.

I have never been a poetry fan either, and I have so many times when I go back to read something I wrote that I can barely decipher. I’ve kept a journal successfully three times in my life, and once was for a class assignment.

What I’m taking away from this is that I need to buy you a notebook, if you come over you’ll do my dishes, and I need to take you to a show.

I wish I could read fast! I have a TBR pile that’s going to take me years to finish, it’d be really nice to have that skill right about now.

I too tried journaling several times and failed.Too lazy I guess. And you can wash my dishes anytime. I hate washing dishes. No dishwasher? Bless you.

    • November 26, 2014 Alison

Yup, no dishwasher. Good thing I like doing dishes, lol.

  • November 24, 2014 Tonya

I love this and you and I are a lot alike. I’m the same way with my facial and body products and dishes!! I’m always the one washing dishes at large gatherings…I enjoy doing it, it’s an introvert thing and control of messes issue.

I’m going to steal this idea. (:

Yes, mess control! I can’t stand seeing dirty dishes lying about everywhere and in the sink. I just have to wash them. Do this post, can’t wait to read it!

  • November 24, 2014 Robbie

I strongly dislike doing dished by hand—at my house but am quick to helpk at someone else’s. Though I don’t do it to avoid the big group I do it b/c I want to help people. I strongly dislike emptying the dishwasher but am happy to fill it with dirty dishes.

The help factor plays greatly into my decision to wash dishes at someone’s house. Though the ‘I can’t stand dirty dishes’ factor is stronger, lol.

    You don’t like Poetry? WHaaaaaaaAT???
I have loads of journals, but do not journal either.
    I write on cheap notepads!

I studied poetry when I did English Literature. But it wasn’t my favorite, though there are a few Keats poems I like. In general, I find them too literary for my liking. Sorry! πŸ™‚

Nice to meet another bake and wash gal!! I am the same way and my hubby shakes his head at me: because, we do have a dishwasher. But IDK – that’s how my grandma did it when we baked. Often because she only had one set of measuring cups or one sized mixing bowl, so you needed it clean for the next recipe.
I LOVE journals!! I have 4 on the go right now. which is probably why that writing never actually makes it to my blog.

I mostly bake and wash, BECAUSE I only have one of things (though I do have two mixing bowls). But it’s also because I don’t like to pile up the sink.

  • November 24, 2014 Tamara

I never wash dishes! Not that it’s a good thing..
I’m also a fast reader with terrible handwriting. I use my Notes app on my phone, because otherwise I have no idea what I wrote on Post-It Notes.

I still write in my planner. But they have to be short and sweet (and I still managed to bungle it up: it took me a full 2 days to figure out what I wrote for a Wednesday must-do a couple of months ago!).

I’m also always the person that straightens up or ends up doing the dishes at parties – same reason as you, I prefer the one on one conversation to the big crowds and hullabaloo. Love random posts. I need to give those more of a try.

  • November 25, 2014 Shell

I’m glad you made your own post! I only wash my hair about every 3 days. Mine is very thick and course and takes a really long time to dry/style. I couldn’t do it every day. But I do shower or take a bath every day.

I love playing board games. We have friends over and play them while all the kids go upstairs to play.
