I Mustache You A Question (Or Four)

posted in: Blogging, NaBloPoMo, Random 47 comments

I love these questionnaires because they are a) easy, b) fun, c) I’m blogging daily. I grabbed these (and the graphic) from Christine at Love, Life, Surf!

Four names that people call me, other than my real name

1. Cat. My husband’s nickname for me, derived cleverly from my name, Alison = Alleycat = Cat.
2. Mama. Incessantly.
3. Sister Lee. That’s what my sister calls me. Again, so clever.
4. I don’t have a fourth.

Four jobs I have had (not counting any current jobs)

1. Waitress at a Chinese restaurant, Maxis in Leeds, England, and a Mexican restaurant, Arizona, in London.
2. Bartender at a bar in Camden Town, London, called Gecko (it’s not there anymore).
3. Events Manager at a company that owned two (now more) clubs.
4. My last job was Marketing Manager for Nike Indonesia.

Four movies I’ve watched more than once

1. Schindler’s List
2. Planes (I KNOW)
3. Karate Kid
4. The X-Men

Four books I’d recommend

1. Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
2. Wild by Cheryl Strayed
3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
4. My Other Ex: Women’s True Stories of Leaving and Losing Friends (I have to plug the book I’m in!)

Four places I have lived

1. Leeds, England
2. London
3. Ipoh, Malaysia (where I was born)
4. Kuala Lumpur (currently)

Four places I have been

1. China
2. Australia
3. New Zealand
4. Tunisia

Four places I’d rather be right now

1. On a beach somewhere.
2. Minnesota because Tracy, my partner in all things blogging, lives there.
3. New Jersey because my bloggy BFF Kimberly lives there.
4. Tuscany because I’d planned a girls trip there with a friend in 2009, but it didn’t happen. I still have the guidebook.

Four things I don’t eat

1. Pistachios
2. Cashews
3. Liver
4. Blue cheese

Four of my favorite foods

1. Chocolate
2. Ice cream
3. Pasta
4. Sushi

Four TV shows that I watch

I watch A LOT of TV, so I’ll go with shows that debuted this year.

1. Happy Valley – a British min-series, and I can’t wait for season two next year.
2. Madam Secretary
3. The Knick
4. Tyrant

Four things I am looking forward to this year

1. December 1 because NaBloPoMo will be over. Hah! Kidding. Mostly.
2. Losing 5 pounds. One can hope (and try) right?
3. Getting back to baking again.
4. Hearing back from some places I’ve submitted writing to. Even if they say no.

Four things I’m always saying

1. “Hi.”
2. “Come here.”
3. “<Child’s name>, don’t do that, please.”
4. “STOP!”

Oh, fun activity! I might have to try this out (especially if I run out of things to blog about). And as someone who originally hails from NJ, I think it’s awesome that you would want to be there!

It was fun! I was actually contemplating a visit to NJ back in 2008 when I was visiting New York. Just didn’t have enough time.

  • November 16, 2014 Janine Huldie

Such fun and may totally have to try this out. And by the way would totally rather be at the beach or some place warm or tropical, as well 😉

Do write this post! I’m in a warm climate but the 100% humidity sucks all the joy out of it, lol.

Well I must have PMS because this made me cry. HARD. I love you, dear friend. May I call you Cat? xoxo

Yay, you saved my blogging day! I have been wracking my brains trying to think of a post for today, and here it is! I love your answers, especially that you watch Happy Valley, I loved it. I am also looking forward to Dec 1st!!! Just think how fulfilled we will feel when we are done and we have a whole month of bloggy nonsense to look back on.

Ooohhhh, I love this! And Cheryl Strayed? I cannot decide whether I love “Wild” or “Tiny Beautiful Things” more… (I think I just decided – I’m going with Tiny Beautiful Things).
Considering myself tagged – still needed a post idea for this week 🙂

How much do I love that you listed “losing five pounds” and “getting back into baking” consecutively?
I don’t bake, but I do embrace goals that seem to be at counter purposes.
You’re so my people. But I knew that already.

    • November 21, 2014 Alison

The wonderful thing is, I didn’t even realize I’d done that!
I love being your people. xoxo

I am also hooked on Madam Secretary, even though my interests are more Tea Leoni than political. I’m not disappointed.

Love these kind of memes! I love Cheryl Strayed’s Tiny Beautiful Things and refer to it often.
I am not familiar with those tv series – a chance for me to check out some new shows. Thanks!

But cashews are SO good!! And I never heard of ANY of those shows, Cat! 😉

    • November 21, 2014 Alison

I don’t like nuts. I only recently started to eat almonds and walnuts (and pretty much those are the only ones I like), but I can’t bring myself to enjoy cashews, sorry 😉

Minnesota is snowy right now! I was going to suggest you come here but it’s icy rain today. Joy?
I saw this at Christine’s blog and I may join in this week!
I’m with you on three of the four foods you don’t eat. I do love pistachios, though.

You don’t want to visit Minnesota now.
    Wait until summer.
    Trust me.

    I need to read Wild.
Especially now that there is a movie.
But I always read the book first for some reason.

Yes, read Wild. You have two weeks before the movie comes out!

  • November 18, 2014 Natalie

I miss your baking too, but I’m sure with four kids it’s not top priority right now 🙂 One day we’ll have to go out for sushi…then some chocolate for dessert!

Just dropping by the NaBloPoMo blogs to say Hi.

I have a link up going at my site plus a copy of the NaBloPoMo blogroll without frames, if you are planning to check out other blogs participating, the frames get really annoying quickly.

    Happy NaBloPoMo to you! 😉

LOVED Wild!! I cannot wait for the film to come out. The scenery alone will be amazing, but I think Reese Witherspoon will be great too. I gotta get my hands on a copy of her other book.

I love these little quizzes: great way to get to know our favourite bloggers better. 🙂
