Through The Lens Thursday #47: Gloom

posted in: NaBloPoMo, Photography, Through The Lens Thursday 18 comments

Through The Lens Thursday is a one-year photography project, where every week, my project partner, Greta of GFunkified and I, will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.

A photography project

This week’s prompt is ‘Gloom’.

Gloom 1

This was taken from my apartment at 11.00 in the morning. IT IS SO GREY.

Gloom 2

In case you missed it in the first picture, here’s a better shot of the sky. Almost depressing, right? Sigh.

Do you still wish for tropical weather?

Next week’s prompt: Clear

For the full list of prompts, check out my Through The Lens Thursday page. If you’d like to join Greta and I, but not necessarily blog your picture, join our Flickr group, where we upload our photos, and give comments, or helpful critique on each other’s photographs.

For some reason totally reminded me of our honeymoon in the Bahamas, as we went in the summer time and the height of hurricane/rainy season. Thankfully, we didn’t have complete rainouts, but the sky was definitely overcast off and on a few days – looking a bit like you showcased above. But still I would take that kind of tropical gloom over the fall or even winter variety we get here complete with freezing cold/bitter temperatures myself.

I guess the grass IS greener on the other side! 🙂 I wouldn’t mind slightly cooler weather. It may be overcast, but it’s HOT and humid.

I hope that sky CLEARS up for you soon. Heh. But yeah, totally gloomy. Great shots!

Hah, clever! It actually has. But I have a different idea for next week!

I have a picture too! I will post it today or tomorrow.

And yes, this picture actually makes me miss Asia. 🙂

I do wish for somewhere tropical right about now. I can hear the wind howling outside my window and the skies are gray. It’s going to be a long Winter.

Ah, I suppose that’s fair to wish for tropical weather, even overcast, hot and humid. 🙂 I hope winter will pass by in a blink of an eye!

    I despise GLOOM.
I want sun, gold, warmth, vivid flowers, & abundant light.

Great clouds! Perfect for this week’s prompt. I hope they cleared away and let some sun through for you. The sun is out here, but it is freezing cold.

It did clear somewhat a couple of days later!

Definitely gloomy. But still pretty in a way. I miss the sun whenever it’s overcast but sometimes a change is nice. And in California we desperately need as much rain as we can get.

Yes, I heard that there’s a drought in CA. 🙁

I mostly wish for dry San Diego weather, honestly.
We have the big gloom here, though. Just so overcast and cold and dark!

Looks like my world. I confess I don’t mind the gloomy skies. Makes me feel less guilty when I hunker down in pjs and drink buckets of coffee.
