This post was inspired by my friend Kim who writes beautifully at My Inner Chick.

1. I believe in practicing kindness every day.

2. I believe in the healing power of ice cream and chocolate.

3. I believe everyone should read one book a month (at least).

4. I believe in recording memories with words and photographs.

5. I believe that there is no such thing as ‘taking too many photographs’.

6. I believe that every woman should own a pretty dress that they can wear whenever they like.

7. I believe that every woman should invest in good underwear.

8. I believe in saying I love you to people you love, every single day.

9. I believe in pursuing your dreams regardless of your age.

10. I believe that every child should have the opportunity to own a pet.

Believe quote

11. I believe in unconditional friendship.

12. I believe that drinking enough water daily is really important.

13. I believe strongly in ‘Me’ time.

LOVE this!! Can I steal the idea? Pretty please? Although, I think you nailed it with yours. I agree with everything on your list. Ice cream definitely has healing powers. And #10. YES! No matter how painful it is to say goodbye to a beloved pet, it is worth it. A million times over.

TOTALLY on the even numbers! I was so upset when they scheduled Astrid’s birth for the 23rd. I completely freaked out yet my doc could not do it any other day.

These are all great lists – I try to read but cannot finish one book for the life of me anymore. Not sure what’s up with my attention span but it’s not happening. I scatter through SEVERAL articles a day but that’s about it. I agree about one dress to wear all the time, I love dresses. :) A girl should always feel her best! Have a great one Alison! -Iva

  • April 22, 2014 Janice

Hahaha, #19 makes me laugh. I used to tell my friends that odd numbers seem more even to me, especially when it comes to displaying things in a row (5 things will seem more even and pleasing to the eye than 4 objects).

I believe that 5 is the most even odd number there is. If that makes sense.

  • April 22, 2014 Kim

I love, love, LOVE #15! I believe that too – and it is one of my go-to happy inspiring things.(Much to my children’s chagrin.) :)
I also believe in the restorative powers of chocolate. And I believe that standing by large bodies of water helps me gain perspective. Love this!

    I love this list :-)

I’d take the “something that scares us” item one step further – I believe we should learn to embrace, and love, something that scares us — make it a part of us.

Even numbers are totally better than odd numbers, and five is the most even of all the odd numbers. And no. 2 needs cookies. Cookies can make all the things better too. Warm chocolate chip cookies with ice cream for everyone!!!

NUMBER SEVEN!!! If you want to lift your self-esteem and confidence instantly, just trade out your old, worn-out underwear for new, high-quality ones. Makes such a difference in how you feel!

I love so many items on your list, Alison. Mainly the eating cake for breakfast and that each child show have the opportunity to own a pet (teaches responsibility!). BUT they must be of a certain age to understand how to properly care for said animal :)

Great list!! Hope you’re having a wonderful week, momma. XOXO

Yes, the pet owning is definitely for teaching responsibility, when they’re old enough :) Speaking from personal experience, when my mom ended up taking over a few er, duties when we were kids.

  • April 23, 2014 sarah reinhart

I believe in love and friendship and kindness and goodness and me time too. Oh, and positive self-talk. That helps tremendously. xoxo.

Manners Matter – absolutely and always!
    I don’t have a pretty dress :(

and I just got a new telephoto lens, so there will absolutely never be too many pictures!
I just shot a pic of a water drop hanging from a leaf at the very top of my very very tall maple tree!! You just can’t photograph that enough.
I can also see in my neighbours window — but I am putting #1 to use regarding that. :)

  • April 23, 2014 Brandy

I absolutely love this list! And agree with many of them, especially number 19 (which if you think about it is kind of ironic LOL). Numbers 2 and 3 are a definite yes!
