Through The Lens Thursday #13: Looking Down

Through The Lens Thursday is a one-year photography project, where every week, my project partner, Greta of GFunkified and I, will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.

A photography project

This week’s prompt is “Looking Down”.

Holding hands

Shot with a Canon EOS Rebel SL1
1/100, f/8.0, ISO 100

The thing about being pregnant again, is knowing that my littlest guy now, won’t be the littlest for much longer. In 6 months or so, he’ll be a big brother to two.

So I’m taking this time to just be with him, one on one, enjoying his almost-twoness – his incessant chatter, his constantly sticky hands, his crazy curls which I love so much.

He still holds my hand.

I’ll take it.

(What do you think of my ‘looking down’ photo? This IS a photography exercise, so I would appreciate any critique!)

Next week’s prompt: Self

For the full list of prompts, check out my Through The Lens Thursday page. If you’d like to join Greta and I, but not necessarily blog your picture, join our Flickr group, where we upload our photos, and give comments, or helpful critique on each other’s photographs.

It’s bittersweet, yes? When you know that your baby is going to be a big sibling? I love this photo and the perspective. I love holding my kids hands, especially when they unconsciously reach for it as soon as we walk out the door. And so excited and happy for you and your family for the new additions!!

I so love this. Not only is it just a great shot — it will be such a treasured keepsake for you of this time with him!
I think my inclination would have been to capture his face (because oh the cuteness!) ….but as I look, I really like that you put your clasped hands as the main focus.

I still take pictures of Z holding my hand because I love it. Thankfully his sister, at 10, still does the same. As for the photo, I like that I can tell the focus is your hands and that the bottom is slightly blurry (his shoe, the car).

    • April 1, 2014 Alison

That was my artistic interpretation πŸ™‚

  • March 29, 2014 Rebeccafaith

I want to hold hands with my little baby as long as he’ll let me. I took a photo recently of “looking down” and it was Dylan pulling on my dress, “up up up” he says. I cherish these days, and you’ve so eloquently worded the savoring of the time. With the babies on the way I like that you’re focusing on the youngest being the youngest. I’m still SOOOO EXCITED FOR YOU!
