Through The Lens Thursday #9: Hands

posted in: Humor, Photography, Poem, Through The Lens Thursday, Toddler 42 comments

Through The Lens Thursday is a one-year photography project, where every week, my project partner, Greta of GFunkified and I, will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.

A photography project

This week’s prompt is “Hands”.

Toddler hands, toddler hands,
Chockful of Rainbow Loom bracelets (thank you, Alexandra and Auggie!),
Aren’t they super pretty bands?
This is as good as it gets.

Toddler hands, toddler hands,
Grabs ahold of the iPad,
See where your fingers land,
Let’s hope you’re not spelling something bad.

Toddler hands, toddler hands,
Just obsessed with this truck,
Not giving anything else a second glance,
You’ll share this with your brother, with any luck.

Just a typical week, capturing a few moments of busy toddler hands, and trying my hand at (terrible) poetry. You’re welcome.

(What do you think of my ‘hands’ photos? This IS a photography exercise, so I would appreciate any critique!)

Next week’s prompt: Hot

For the full list of prompts, check out my Through The Lens Thursday page. If you’d like to join Greta and I, but not necessarily blog your picture, join our Flickr group, where we upload our photos, and give comments, or helpful critique on each other’s photographs.

Speaking of hands and toddlers, I have a post on Everyday Family featuring 6 awesome love crafts for toddlers and preschoolers! Would love to see you there. Thank you.

Toddler hands are the best. Still a little chubby but on their way to big-kid hands. And I can assure you, my attempts at poetry would put yours to shame. As in, mine would be WAY more awful.

I doubt that! This type of poetry is really the lowest on the ranks. πŸ™‚

Great idea to capture the busy toddler hands in all their business!
I can’t pick a favourite — the hand on the truck is really nice composition. But those are some really nice Loom bracelets too.
And I think pairing it with the poetry was brilliant!! loved that.

Thank you! My personal favorite is the truck. It’s just so him.

I love the one on the iPad! You caught the light just right there. Nicely done. And, I agree, there’s almost nothing better then toddler hands. Maybe hugs and kisses…

Ooh I love it when he puts his hands behind my neck, and pulls in for a kiss!

  • February 27, 2014 Allie

I love the cute little hands. I just want to hold them and squeeze!

This is the cutest! Of course I love those chubby toddler hands, but the little poems goes with it perfectly!

My favorite is the ipad photo. Charlie’s little fingers do the same things when he “pushes” buttons. So cute.

Thank you!! The iPad photo was the trickiest – there was very little natural light, and the wall light was orange. πŸ™‚

My goodness. How is it Thursday already? This time going fast thing is wildly unfair.
That said, I do love toddler hands in their natural element. The other day Des was picking his nose and I nearly took a photo.
Luckily he didn’t eat it. He was just trying to get more comfortable.

Oh, the wonderful internet. Who would have guessed Auggie’s bracelets would be in Malaysia!!! So cool, so cool. Thanks, Alison. You made our day and he said he can’t wait to get to school and tell everybody that his bracelets are on a blog from Malaysia! BIG DEAL, you know! xo

I like the top one best, can’t go wrong with a cute wrist full of rainbow loom bracelets. It is perfectly in focus and the addition of the yellow bowl gives it that casual ‘just snapped’ image. The others are great and the poems too, you should do more poems and photos, it is a good idea. Clare x

Oh little hands… always up to something! Also, thank you for teaching me what rainbow loom bracelets look like! I hear about them all the time, but my son’s too young for them still (I think?) so I wasn’t really sure what they were.
