Let me tell you what this month has felt like.
It has felt like I’ve been hanging onto the roof of a fast moving train – exhilarating, exhausting, slightly terrifying, and before I know it, I’m thrown off and the freaking train runs me over. As I lie there, I realize oh, I didn’t get run over, I just fell right under, right between the tracks, and I’m safe, but I am bruised, battered, relieved and kinda sorry my ride is over.
So I’m out of breath, feel like I can sleep for a thousand years, but instead, I just sit here eating muffins of the banana coconut variety (recipe at Scary Mommy!).
I feel this way my friends, because I accidentally, purposely went all over the Internet this month. It started innocently enough with Jill publishing my post ‘Don’t. That got picked up by two major sites in Australia, iVillage Australia and news.com.au (where the trolls emerged and told me that I was stupid and negative – oh well!). Then one of my favorite sites, Mamalode published my piece about board games. Ironically, two days later, I am recommending 8 fun and education iPad apps for toddlers at Everyday Family – hey, mom needs downtime too, right?
I decided to celebrate my birthday with an awesome giveaway (thank you all for entering and congratulations to the 5 winners!). I ate cake and spent the weekend mostly offline with my kids, doing fun stuff like going to the local bird park and science center.
When do you sleep, you ask? NEVER, I say. It’s because my toddler wakes me up multiple times a night, so I sought advice from a few mom friends on how they got their kids to sleep through the night, and wrote about it at Everyday Family. With all this non-sleeping that I’ve been doing, I managed to do six blog evaluation and strategies for some awesome clients.
I also wrote. A lot. I don’t think I’ve written as much this month, as I have in a very long time. And it felt good. I feel like a real writer. One who will be a guest blogger at a great parenting site next week. I will have a daily post there just for the week, so I will be asking of you to please go read them. Would you mind? I’ll make you muffins. And cake. Maybe throw in a lemon loaf.
To top off this crazy, wonderful month, I’ve been syndicated at BlogHer today, for my post on blogging advice for the new(ish) blogger. I am so thrilled. Go give me some sparkles please? I will return any favor you ask. Anything.
I think I’ll take a nap now. Have a fabulous weekend, friends.
What was the best thing about August for you?
