Old School Blogging: The Crazy Five Edition

posted in: Link Up, Old School Blogging 130 comments

I love a good meme, so this month, I’m co-hosting Old School Blogging with Elaine of The Miss Elaine-ous Life

This month, we’re talking Five Things.

Five Things I Have a Passion For

1. Writing.

2. Photography.

3. Baking.

4. The Internet.

5. Books.

Five Things I Would Like to do Before I Die

1. Watch my boys get married. I intend to live a long life.

2. Travel to Italy, France, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland.

3. Attend a blogging conference in the US. BlogHer 2014?

4. Master making macarons.

5. Make a difference somehow, to someone, with my writing.

Five Things I Say A Lot

1. Hi.

2. What do you want for dinner?

3. Seriously?

4. Asshat.

5. Love you.

(No, don’t read the above in a sentence. Just don’t. Okay, go ahead, do it.)

Five Books And/ Or Magazines I Have Read Lately

5 books

Not a single work of fiction! It’s just where my heart lies right now.

Five Favorite Movies (Maybe You’ve Seen Them Five Times?)

I haven’t watched a movie in a long time, so this will be a list of very old movies. (I drew a blank here for half a day. I wish I was kidding.)

1. Schindler’s List.

2. Trainspotting.

3. Four Weddings and a Funeral.

4. The Sound of Music

5. Lord of the Rings (technically, 3 movies, but I have actually watched all 3 back-to-back, so, one long-ass movie).

Five Places I Would Love To Travel To

I answered this above! But for the immediate future, here are 5 other places I’d love to visit, because some of my favorite bloggers live there, or sort of nearby.

1. Minnesota.

2. Kansas.

3. Texas.

4. Washington D.C.

5. Chicago

Five People I Invite to do this Meme

Some of you may know that I’m a SITS Girl through and through, so I’m tagging 5 ladies I met there.

1. Kimber and Ashley of The Pinning Mama

2. Kate of The Sticky Mom

3. Stevie of Joy In The Midst Of

4. Ashlee of Momchalant

5. Kristen of 31 Million Seconds

If you want to play along (and I really hope you do!), write a post of YOUR crazy five, grab a button, and link up with me or Elaine! Linky is open until July 25.

    • July 16, 2013 Alison

Hi, thanks for coming by and for sharing your recipe!

The macarons I speak of however, are not the same as macaroons. The former is a delectable, delicate dessert that looks like a tiny whoopie pie. It’s beautiful ganache sandwiched between two cookies. The cookie part is a tricky thing to make, hence it’s like a Masterchef dish, lol.

I’ve been on a nonfiction kick too. I going write those down. I read Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan a couple months ago. The movie Schindler’s List broke my heart. Oh, thank you for saying you want to come to my ‘hood! You are ALWAYS welcome here. Or, I’ll meet you somewhere, like wherever the conference is that you finally get to come to. πŸ™‚ I laughed out loud at your five things you say a lot. Or maybe snorted, because you know, I do that a lot. πŸ˜€

Hi namesake! πŸ™‚ Like you, I haven’t been reading much fiction. What’s up with that? I need to sink into a good novel while I’m on vacation next week. Any suggestions?

And oh yes, you certainly ARE making a difference with your writing!

Thank you, Alison! (I love that yours has only one ‘L” like mine)
I just looked through the books I read recently to give you a recommendation and realized that they are all non-fiction! However, if you haven’t read Gone Girl by Gilliam Flynn, do! Also, Room by Emma Donoghue.

I love your list! We have more than a few things in common, sister! πŸ˜‰

The Sound of Music will forever be on my favorite list. I loved that movie. When we were school all the kids in chorus would groan when we had to watch it. I looked forward to it. Captain Vantrap? Yes, please.

I so want to! So many of my favorite people are there! (you, Tracy, Galit, Vikki to name a few)

The first 3 movies on your list are famous movies that I have not seen – and I know a good amount about movies! I am jealous of your book list, too. Your list of passions is definitely something I can relate to.

Oh, you should absolutely watch those 3, they’re amazing. So are the books. All so good. Promise.

Oooh, I like this one. I totally need to link up!

I’d like to see Cali on your list of places to visit. Just saying. You and your family always have a place to stay. (:

I have family in Walnut Creek and my brother & sister-in-law (and Thanksgiving nephew to be born) are in Milibrae, so a visit to California is definitely in the cards sometime! And you’re top of my to-see list. xo
