Over It and Loving It

Over It

  • The sickies: We have been battling colds, coughs, viral infections, stomach bugs, high fever, for weeks. No one has been spared. I just want a healthy household
  • Sweating profusely: This is one postpartum symptom I really, really wish was over already. Temperatures here average 32 degrees Celcius (90 degrees F), and I’m hauling around two children all day, and I sweat. All. The. Time.
  • My crazy hair: Since I had the boys, my sleek straight hair is no longer. It’s wavy in weird places. It does not look like this anymore.
Asymmetrical bon

This was how my hair was in 2008, taken at the Metropolitan Museum, NYC, pre-kids.

  • The neighbors’ endless renovations: Apartment living means we can hear every drill and every hammer that happens. There are about 180 apartments in our block, so go figure.
  • Apartment living: My dream is to live in a house, with a large backyard. My boys are energetic and boisterous and they need a place to play, that doesn’t require us to drive out somewhere.

Loving It

  • Baking: I love the whole process – measuring, weighing, mixing, scooping, then tasting and eating. Then, taking pictures of course.
Poppy seed bread

I took this picture with my Canon PowerShot. I like to think that with a DSLR, I’ll be able to take amazing food pictures – exciting!

  • The Walking Dead: I just started watching this series. I know, what took me so long? It is SO good.
  • The Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Activity Table: We’ve bought a fair few duds for the kids before, but this one? It’s kept the baby entertained for ages.
  • Camera360 Ultimate: I use this to take all my photos with my (fairly old, needs to be replaced) Android. It makes my terrible pictures ever so slightly better.
  • PicMonkey: Best free photo editing website ever! (no, I was not compensated for this post, I just really love it).

What are you over, and what do you love?

Ugh I hope you get rid of the sickies soon. Having it continually passed around the house is miserable. And I’m over my crazy hair too. I finally got my grown out bob trimmed into a more suitable cut for my curly hair, but…I hate the cut. Time to look for a new stylist?

I’m glad you did this, and thanks for the shout out!

I love PicMonkey too…having so much fun with it! And since it’s fresh on my mind, the smile on my son’s face after his team won their game today, the last one of the season. And the smile on the face of my other son when he came home from running a Father’s Day race with his dad this morning.

I loved my pregnancy hair…it is falling out now. Damn kid.
So is your hair wavy now?
I can’t even imagine that friggen racket. I live in a home and our neighbors homes are fairly close to one another and we can hear everything…but apartments? That’s probably a whole different ball game.

Yes, wavy, but in a weird way, ugh. My hair IS thicker now though. Just not sleek.
Yes, apartment living can be very challenging. Sigh.

Over it…hmmm…construction zoned house. And a crazy messy home school room. I have been trying to get this stupid room ready and no matter what I do it just gets messy again!

Loving it..I bought this bright pink acrylic paint by Golden and it is my favorite paint. Summer starts for us on friday. Planning a girls weekend with my friend before she has her very first baby 🙂

I’m over big changes. The last year+ has been overrun with them and all I want is to settle in and be boring and the same for a while.

I’m loving little ones in swim suits right now. Sweet, sweet summer.

We are over the sickies, too! Well, at least the husband and my son are. I’m still dealing with the remainder of my asthma *cough cough*

In terms of what I’m loving…
      1. Less work, more free time.
      2. Being able to eat cake and ice cream again. Avoided them during the sickies.
      3. Rainy weather. Ironic, but it’s respite from the scorching post-summer days we’ve been having!

  • June 18, 2013 Tamara

I can’t stand the way the sickies latch on and linger. No one is spared sometimes! Our last bout was last summer at this exact time so of course I’m on high alert for it. Loving it? The fact that it’s been a year since the last bout of the sickies. Over it? My postpartum stomach. It’s still small – I know this – I’m naturally thin, but I can’t wear any of my old clothes yet. And I can’t afford new. I’m over that too – no money.

So what’s the Walking Dead like I’ve not heard of it and I’m always looking for new series to delve into.

OMG THE SWEATS. if I even think about having a glass of wine, it’s all over. I wake up drenched in sweat. My husband has laid down the law that I’m not allowed to have the house colder than 64F… It’s like I’m sleeping in a furnace. It’s awful! After almost four years, I’ve sorta given up hope that I will ever go back to normal mortal defined as not having to change my shirt in the middle of the night.

The sickies really are the worst. I think that we might be over them here (tho’ I probably just jinxed myself), at least for the boys. I’m also kind of over living an apartment right now but I also know that I don’t necessarily want to deal with the hassle of living in a house either. Oh and the hair. Cute idea! I’m over needing to have my wisdom teeth out. Every time I go to the dentist, that’s what they say. So Ima gonna do it. Ugh. Also, I’m over having to reassemble my couch every single day. I look forward to the day we can get a new couch. It will have non-detachable cushions.
