Two Blogging Years

posted in: Blogging, Blogiversary 51 comments

Yes, it’s me again. I feel like I’ve been in your face a lot this week (and I have, with this post about social media suicide going viral, writing about my mother issues, then suggesting fun ways to remember your baby’s first year), but I couldn’t go today without posting.

Because today is my second blog anniversary (Blogiversary? Blogeversary? Blogversary?).

Two year blogging anniversary

Two blogging years feels like the equivalent of 5 human years. I feel like I’ve been doing this for way longer than 24 months, written more than 500 or so posts, and spent way more than a gazillion hours on social media (oh wait, I have spent more than a gazillion hours on social media).

This date, two years ago, I started a blog on a whim, using a name I no longer use, which my husband helpfully pointed out recently, “sounds like a p*rn site” (why didn’t you tell me then, Husband?!). I had no idea what I was getting into, nor did I stick with my original idea for a blog (that lasted about two days).

I can’t imagine not blogging (and not writing posts without using parentheses – this post will have a record number of them, just sayin’). The thought of not writing, not talking to you, not knowing what you were up to, not getting my words out somehow? Unimaginable.

I won’t get soppy on you, I will just say, thank you. Thank you to each of you who have taken the time to read, to comment, to share, to be there, to talk, to commiserate, to assure, to love. Thank you for your friendship, thank you for making the last two years so much richer for me in so many ways.

What’s a blog anniversary without a present?

Instead of gift cards or spa treatments or jewelry (I haven’t blogged long enough, or maybe smart enough, to make enough money for that, sorry), I thought I’ll give away a blog evaluation from Little Love Media. If you don’t need one, maybe you can give it away to a bloggy friend if you win it? No fancy Rafflecopter widgets, or mandatory entries to like my Facebook page, or follow me everywhere. You just have to leave a comment telling me why YOU are awesome, and I’ll pick a winner with a handy plugin.

Giveaway is open to all, worldwide, from March 29 to April 1 (closes 9.00 a.m. Eastern). You may only enter once. Winners will be picked using And The Winner Is….

Have a lovely weekend! And tell me one awesome thing about yourself.

Congratulations! Blogging is damned hard work, and you do it so well. I love reading your posts (but what was your original blog name again? I’m curious about the p*rn-site comment!)

Why am I awesome? I could say something sappy about parenting, but let’s be honest – anyone who parents a child with love and selflessness is awesome. I don’t claim to be any better than any other parent (although I am more vocal about it at times).

I think what makes me awesome these days is that finally – FINALLY – I have been finding the courage to take care of myself. That is so hard for moms to do, and for the longest time, I cannot even say that my own needs were at the bottom of the priority list, because they weren’t even ON the priority list. Don’t get me wrong – I still feel a certain amount of angst about doing stuff for myself, but at least I am making progress. I’m pretty sure my kids are thankful, because I’m not so damned uptight about everything as I used to be!

Congratulations! Also, you’ve written more posts in your 2 years than I have in my 3 and a half years. I’m at 360 posts. You’re such a rockstar.

Why am *I* awesome? Because I managed to sneak my way into your little blogging world and become your friend. And that, at least, makes my life more awesome.

Wow, Alison, you have accomplished SO much in two years! I’ve been blogging for three years, and you’ve done more than I’ve done times five! Not to mention your commenting prowess. I don’t know how you have time to sleep!

I’m awesome because I can call you a friend. Seriously. I’m really grateful for that.

Congratulations, Alison! I think I’ve been at it about a year and a half, and you’re right – it sure feels like more than that. I don’t remember what it was like not to blog. LOL.

What makes me awesome? I finally feel worthy of love and belonging regardless of what I’ve accomplished these days (which usually isn’t much). It’s been a long road to get to a place where I feel confident and ready to stand behind my convictions. I’m glad it’s paying off.

Happy Blogiversary! Congratulations on 2 years – such an accomplishment! I just celebrated 1 year of blogging a couple of weeks ago, so that means that it was probably a little less than a year ago that I discovered you and your (then) blog. I am so happy I did! (BTW, did you know that yours was the first (non-spam) comment I received on my blog? It was so exciting – thank you!)

Also? Blogging without parentheses? Not happening for me, either. (Like, ever.)

Something that is awesome about me – – that’s a toughie. I am an entertaining travel companion because of my tendency to sing in the car. (As long as you’re not embarrassed by that sort of thing – in which case, not so awesome.)

And it is I who should be thanking you for all your beautifull words and wisdom. You are awesome.
Why I am awesome? Don’t know really? My encyclopedic knowledge of everything Aghatha Christie, my stellar chocolate cake, the fact that I make my own jam… Let that be my awesome: I manage to work full time and still make my own jam.

Congratulations on two years of blogging success! I love reading your posts and have enjoyed getting to know you a bit as we both attempted to Shred for 30 days. 🙂

I think one awesome thing about myself is that I can finally say that I’ve come to terms with living with a mental illness. I’m no longer afraid of it because I’ve learned how to manage it. Instead, I’m ready to embrace it as the part of me that it is. That’s all. 🙂

Hope you don’t mind, but I’m going to email you a question that’s been on my mind lately. I’d love any advice you have for me, a newbie writer who just wants to be able to write my story in a way that it will be read by a large audience.

Congratulations, Alison! I think it feels like longer than 2 years for you because you’ve accomplished so much and are so well-known across the blogosphere! BTW, I use the M dash as much as you use the parenthesis–I have discovered a strange love for it. 🙂 I am going to venture and say that I am awesome because even though I have so much on my plate, I still make time for writing because I love it–through the sleep deprived nights and empty brain nights. It’s what gives me Fuel for Life.

What makes me awesome is the dreaming I do. The fact that I have so many things planned and so many things up my sleeve to accomplish. Here’s to a great 2013 and reaching ahead to my dreams!

Happy Two years! My third blogiversary was earlier this month and I also can’t imagine life without it. It’s changed everything. With sharing my soul and setting my own deadlines, I managed to never go more than 3-4 days without blogging. And that’s during many personal issues and having babies and more! So that’s why I’m awesome.

Kindness and generosity to others. I have been very lucky in my life while others have not so I try to give back in many forms to make people’s lives a little better. But it is not something I advertise, I just do it.

So impressive what you have accomplished in two years. I am awesome because I am passionate.
