After I read Kate’s post, Friday Funnies, where she shared adorable and funny stories of her boys, I realized I haven’t really done that here, a space for memory keeping. Total fail.
I want to remember all the little things the boys do, and I just know, over time (very little time), these memories will fade and I’ll forget.
Some snippets:
Scrumplet has become really verbal of late. He will crawl to his favorite spot on the couch, stand up, shout “Dada! Dada! Tata! Tata!”, and wag a chubby finger at the front door. I’m guessing his indignant shouts have something to do with the fact that he doesn’t get to go out with Papa every morning. Stuck with me, buddy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We’re usually on the floor, the Scrumps and me, and sometimes, he’ll go behind me, stand up, and lay his head on the back of my shoulder. It’s a tender moment. I go “Awwww” – then he digs his teeth in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He likes to crawl away from me these days. He’ll go down the corridor, turn left into the master bedroom and try to shut the door on me. He succeeded in closing the door a few times, making me wish I had X-ray eyes so I can see where he is while I gently push the door open. He always looks guilty on the other side.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night at around 8.00pm, just before his bedtime, Monkey pulled my hand, and said, “night night”, telling me to lie down on the couch. He arranged himself around the empty spot right near my legs, and patted my back. “Time for bed, buddy?” “NO! Night night Mama!” Okay then. (I wish I could go to bed at 8 o’clock.)
What have your kids been up to lately that that made you smile?
My 6 month old is teething and makes the funniest face as he feels the new teeth. Makes me smile every time I see it. I really need to try to take a picture to remember it. I also smile when my two year old climbs in his baby brother’s jumper!
Yes! Take a picture of the face!
I remember those days of crawling away to rooms down the hall. At our place, it was often the bathroom, and the object of fascination was the toilet paper roll. It was irresistible!
I have to shut the bathroom doors
I know that sometimes my “memory” posts may not be thought provoking enough for my readers – but I love them, and as my kids are older and like reading my blog, THEY love them too. I love reading the little snippets of real life – the real stuff that we think we will never forget, but the memories do fade unless we are documenting! Great that you captured some precious moments!!
Sometimes, we have to go easy on ourselves with the thought provoking stuff, and just write what’s going on in our lives. It’s for them to read one day, anyway.
Just last night the 3 year old pulled a stunt and I immediately thought of blogging it so that I don’t forget. Lets just say we now need a lesson in honesty too.
Hah! It never ends, does it?
My kids discovered their old baby toys in the attic and played “baby”. And because they wanted to be baby rabbits they requested raw whole carrots by way of afternoon snack. Meaning I have found another way to sneak them vegetables…
Well, that’s a miracle!
I can’t wait to have a baby in the way one day and see how our daughter reacts to the toys she once used.
Monkey is getting so big!!!
If she’s anything like mine, she’ll hoard them all and say they’re hers.
Oh. My. How. Cute!
Da da, ta ta! —> so glad you wrote this one down. And I can just picture him trying to get in there before you to close the door. And: Monkey saying “night, night” – they have so much personality. (-: Adorable.
They do, don’t they? Love watching Scrumps’ personality emerge.
It looks like someone is just dying to go back in time!
He can almost pull it off being in that walker. hee hee
Yes, ALMOST
Gia has really gotten into playing with dolls and when she had to go to school, she asked if I could babysit them. I said yes and she rambled on all the things I had to do with them while she was gone.
Love hearing what yours are up to.
I so did not! Thwarted by the children, as usual. xoxo
Aww this is a great idea! It’s hard to remember all the cute stuff they do…but I want to remember it all too!
You should write a post!
Gosh, I love this. So very glad you are documenting these moments so as not to forget them later. You’ll want to carry them with you, always. XOXO
I do! Thank you, Charlotte.
I can’t even keep up with the hilarity that is my 3YO. (See today’s post for just a snippet.) She cracks me up every day. Kids are hilarious.
They are totally hilarious!
Love these little glimpses!
I do too!
I love this! Especially Monkey in the saucer! So funny and cute!
He looks enormous in it!
Well it sounds like your kids are quite spirited to say the least! Lol
I think it’s great blogging all these memories down because you DO have the luxury of going back and reading everything when you want that opportunity
Oh yes, definitely spirited!
Such sweet moments…and that picture is hilarious! T has tried to climb into L’s jumperoo, and was not too happy when she got stuck! The other day she told the husband that she didn’t like it when he works late…which apparently took him by complete surprise. Though she’s been jealous of the baby lately, she’s also been getting sweeter with us. It’s really amazing how kids can tug at your heart with the smallest gestures!
Yes, they do, indeed! Monkey gets stuck in the saucer too, I have to rescue him each time.
Aww this post gives me serious baby fever, Alison. These are all so adorably cute it should come with a warning label! May cause serious baby fever hahaha.
Haha! Okay, I’ll do that for the next time.
Noah’s started asking to carry his brother. So far we haven’t let him pick the baby up, but since Jonah’s three months old now, has control of his head and neck and is going to have to learn eventually to toughen up with a rough and rowdy big brother. It’s the sweetest little thing…Noah grabs him so gently and always kisses his head before passing him off to me or his daddy. Now…remind me of how cute that is when he accidentally drops him. LOL
Hah! I think it’s sweet, Noah wanting to hold and carry Jonah. They’re adorable together.
Hi Alison…want to reccomend you to read this blog.
I know Ninie, I went to her yoga classes a few years ago.
I think the thing that made me smile the most recently when was when P. said of Bo, “Mama, you know we’ll be sister and brother FOREVER?”
Aw, that’s so sweet!
I want to strap a recorder to Chunky’s chest. Kid is too friggen funny. The other day he stuck his stomach out and said “Momma’s grow babies. I grow food.”
He definitely broke the uterus mould.
Shut the front door! How did he get to be so witty so early??
Kids sure know how to pull at our heart strings when they are adorable.
Oh those kids. Funny and cute and biting all at the same time.
Yes, biting. Damn teeth.
So sweet! It’s so important to stop and notice those little moments. My 3-year-old is blooming into quite a funny little guy and I often find myself Tweeting his remarks. Most recently he told a funny joke in relation to his favorite song – I blogged about it!
Your blog is so pretty. I love your logo!!! Happy SITs Sharefest!
