6 months old

Six months old.

Sitting up.

Eating solids.

In a baby’s life, those developmental milestones are big things.

All of which we celebrate and cheer on.

But little things get lost in the big stuff.

I don’t want to forget the little things.

The way he smiles when he sees me.

The way he lunges for me when I’m near.

The way he grabs my hair and pulls my face to his.

The way he clutches his teething rusks, with determination.

The way he arches his back when he’s pissed off.

The way he thumps his little hand on the floor, a pillow, my leg, whatever or whoever he’s near.

The way his eyes light up when he sees his big brother.

The way he giggles when I tickle his belly.

The way his hair is all fuzzy and soft.

The way he makes us all of us a little more complete, a little happier.

Mama loves you, baby boy.

My littlest turned 6 months on the 8th. Where did the time go?

Your turn – what memory did you capture this month? Can’t wait to see what you’re going to share with Galit and I!

Grab a button from my sidebar and link up from November 12 to 16 (closes at 9pm Eastern). Please take a little time to visit the linker before and after you!

Oh Alison, he’s so precious! I’m kinda sad reading your post, b/c my kids are so big (and sometimes annoying). I have had a pretty sucky mommy attitude lately. Thanks for helping me stop and appreciate what a gift I have.

Six months, already? How is that possible? He is so handsome and such a light.

How are you guys doing with the two boys? It’s been almost 11 months here and we still have a hard time finding a balance between our girls. They both need so much attention now and then there’s the whole “keeping them from killing each other” fun.
    Susan recently wrote…Eleven MonthsMy Profile

    • November 17, 2012 Alison

We have good days and not-so-good days. As the months go by and the baby gets older, I find that the balancing act changes too. Now that the baby is 6 months and getting attached to me, whereas before, he was just happy to sit in his rocker and watch, now he wants to get involved too. He wants to play with what his brother plays with. I can’t just devote attention 100% to one for a long period of time, I literally have to divide myself.

Fortunately, I do have willing and happy in laws who’ll take one of the two boys during the week so I can have one-on-one time with the other. That really helps. Hope things get better and better around your parts!
