I’m A Better Writer Than I Am A Vlogger

I figured that this would be one of those posts you’d click away because I’m not actually here, I’m telling you to go read my post somewhere else.

So I decided to make a vlog!

Warning: I did this in one shot, I did it during nap time, I had no makeup on and I used air quotes at some point in the video.

I also say “Um” a lot.

But it’s very short, less than a minute. It’d take you less time to watch it than it is to read this.

Anyway, it’s still hard for me to say I’m a writer.

So when the folks at Studio 30 Plus contacted me to be the Featured Writer?

Mind blown.

Would you pretty please hop over there and read my post on ghosts?

Yes, ghosts. The supernatural.

It’s Halloween month after all.

Thank you, friends.

xo

PS: I think you have to be a member at Studio 30 Plus to comment, so if you’re not, you should sign up! But if you’d rather not, do come back here to comment. I’m leaving them open for once.

  1. That was creepy! Yikes! By the way, I am talking about your ghosts post, NOT your vlog…that I loved! :) So fun to put a voice to someone whose words I read all the time!

  3. Eep! That sounds totally creepy.

Love hearing your voice again. And the apparently empty house did a great job in that vlog. It deserves an Oscar. (As do you.)

  4. Fascinating post over at Studio 30. I don’t really believe in ghosts. But I do have a love for chills and things unexplained. Weird me!

You know when you read blogs for some time, and wonder ‘how this person will sound in real life?’ I’m glad to hear your voice, because it turned out to be exactly as I imagined. :) which, of course, is nice.

    • Thanks for reading over there, Farah! I’m kinda fascinated by the supernatural too, I won’t lie!

And thank you for your very nice words!

  5. Love seeing and hearing you Alison!
I am scared to go read, but I’m going anyway.

  6. We stayed in a house once on our way back from a vacation to Colorado. It was supposedly used for ski vacation-ers and was in New Mexico but when we got there in the PITCH dark it was quite scary to me. I ended up sleeping in a room all by myself on the other side of the house. I have NO idea how I was brave enough to do that. Pretty sure the place was haunted, just from the feelings I got.

    Nice ghosts, I guess. :)

  9. I have a hard time believing you don’t think of yourself as a writer; you are one of my very favorites in this bloggy world for a reason. I always love to stop by and soak in your words.

You had a fabulous post at S3P. Thank you so much for sharing over there today :)

    • I think others are more confident of my writing than I am, which is strange but nice! Loved being over at S30P, thanks for having me!

  10. Dude!!!! That is freaky!!! I’m kind of like you in your beliefs. I don’t think I believe in them (because of my faith), but I don’t NOT believe in them…does that make sense?

And, silly girl…YOU ARE A WRITER!!!!!! A wonderful one at that.

  11. OMGosh! You are beautiful and charming and everything I would have thought. And the Ghost piece? Gorgeous writing and slightly creepy, I may add. Do I believe? I am not sure. I have never had a supernatural experience but others that I know have – there has got to be something to it.

    • Oh my, Ilene, you’re seriously too kind!! And thank you for heading over to read, I really appreciate that.

It was creepy, even thinking about what happened all those years ago, gives me the heebie jeebies. :)

  12. You are so beautiful in “person”…I just want to squish you to bits.
    Ok off to visit.

  14. Loved your story, Alison! That state between being awake and asleep is one where it is so hard to know the dream from reality. And in a strange, old house? That would be scary. Also, I have never heard about whistling at night; I am going to remember that one.

As for ghosts, I do believe in them. Mostly the good ones.

And I’ve been thinking of joining Studio 30+ since I notice the badge on your blog last week. Small world, or something! :)

  22. I don’t have any personal ghost stories (thank you very much) but two of my friends had a ghost experience when they were in Somaliland and I was the one who told them to go talk to each other because they hadn’t told the other what they saw before coming to me. Creepy.

  23. I never join Studio 30 Plus to leave comments because I’m not 30. So I feel like I’m not allowed. But I will be 30 in January, so maybe I can sneak in? Shhh! Don’t tell anyone.

Usually I never watch videos. But I clicked play. It was nice to put a voice to your picture and words. =) It was great!

  24. If that’s you with no makeup then I think I may have to “hate you” just a little bit (“hate you” is in air quotes). You looked lumninous – especially against the soft colors of whatever room you were in and the ambient light from the window. It was all very zen.

I also like your barely-perceptible British accent. At least I think it was British. I couldn’t tell. What? It was barely perceptible!

Anyway, I read the post. It was awesome.
Kristin recently wrote…Conversations With My MotherMy Profile

    • It was the living room, and it looked empty because I had cleared the play area to get it cleaned thoroughly, and the kids were napping, so I hadn’t put everything back yet. Also, I drew the curtains back. And yes, I actually don’t wear makeup, like ever. Pregnancy hormones were kind to me, and so far, the chin zits haven’t returned. Have I jinxed myself?

The accent, yes. It’s strange, right? Not British, not…. anything.

Thanks for reading my ghost story!

  25. So I started reading this while nursing the baby for her bedtime feeding…in the dark. Yeah, I had to stop because just a few nights ago I fell asleep nursing her in that same chair and had a creepy nightmare! Just finished reading it though, and it rings a bell with me. I always think of that saying in The Sixth Sense where the kid talks about the hairs standing back of your neck. It’s why I’m rarely home alone without some sort of background noise!
