Memories Captured – May Link Up!

Congratulations to Kimberly of Sperk*, our lucky winner of Memories Captured May (chosen via random.org)!! We hope you will enjoy working on your new blog design with Kimberly Muro Designs, and we look forward to seeing your new look! Thanks to everyone who linked up this month. See you next month on June 18-22!

This blog here, is my way of fulfilling my role as memory catcher for my children.

In doing that though, I find that I usually forget someone.

Me.

Yes, I’ve just had a baby, and who doesn’t love a baby picture?

This month however, my Memories Captured is about me, me, me.

3 days postpartum

As I adjust to my new role as a mother of two, I realize that my immersion into parenting will only deepen. That I’m a mother first and foremost, is a given.

However, I am still me. I refuse to lose the person I was, that I am, that I know I will remain. And that is so easy to do, when your needs and desires, will always come second to those of your children.

So this memory captured 3 days after my son was born, is what I want to use as a reminder that ….

…. I may be wearing an old tee shirt and yoga pants, but I still love pretty dresses, my collection of jeans and my 4 inch heels, and by God, I will wear them again soon.

…. I may have no make up on and look a little tired, but I will still do my 3-step beauty routine twice a day, no matter what.

…. I may be nearer 40 than 30, but age is just a number and I feel young enough to dance.

…. I may be a role model to my children, but I can still be an adult and swear sometimes (when they’re in bed or out of sight!).

…. I will want my boys to have good eating habits, but yes, they can have a cupcake once in a while, just like their Mama, who refuses to give them up.

This is who I am right now, and I am happy.

And more happiness is talking about our sponsor this month –Β Kimberly Muro Designs! Kimberly is a dear friend of mine who blogs over at Mama’s Monologues – not only is she a wonderful writer, she’s a kick ass designer. Our one lucky linker this month will win a complete blog makeover from Kimberly, worth $245.

Link up from May 14 to May 18 (closes 9.00 pm Eastern)! Do take time to visit a couple of your fellow linkers! Galit and I can’t wait to see what you have to share with us this month!

I can just see me and you sharing cupcakes – me in my heels and you in your chosen footwear (and what may that be?).

  • May 14, 2012 Kerstin

This is great. Glad you are not forgetting about yourself – after all if you are not well, how can you look after everything else?
My favourite analogy for that is that you’re always supposed to put the oxygen mask on yourself when the air pressure in the plane drops, and then help others. Way to go, mama!

    • May 14, 2012 Alison

      Thank you Kerstin!!

I realized after the birth of my first son that looking after me needs to be just as important as looking after me. And great analogy!
