Quirk, idiosyncrasy, a peculiarity of behavior.

You know you have them.

I certainly do.

For example:

1. I have to eat things like Skittles or gummy bears evenly. If I eat one and chew it on the left side, I have to eat another and chew it on my right side. Then all will be right with the world.

2. Toilet paper in my house is OVER the spool. Never under. Under bothers me. Tremendously.

3. If I see one or two things left in a box, like a teabag, I have to remove it from the box, discard said box and drink a cup of tea.  I can’t stand solitary items in a big box.

4. I always put things back where they belong. Like house keys. They always go back to the same place.

5. I have to decide on what to wear the night before. Including underwear.

6. Books on shelves must be lined up from big to small.

7. I must clean and wash as I cook. I hate piling up dishes, pots and pans in the sink.

8.  I don’t like uneven numbers. Like 7.

9. When I get dressed, it’s always left first. As in left arm through shirt, left leg through pants.

10. I shuffle cards with my left hand. I’m right handed.

Am I quirky or just mildly OCD?

Do you have any quirks? I promise not to judge, heh.

You say OCD, like it’s a bad thing, LOL. Number 6….for sure. How about me, I have to have all clothes in the closet by sleeveless, then short sleeve no collars, short sleeve collars, long sleeve no collars, long sleeve collars. It just makes things easy. Having a system. My other super crazy is not putting any dark clothes or anything with an applique in the dryer. I hang it all up. Then ironing everything including the kids T-shirts. Our clothes last a long time and don’t fade though, but it’s consuming and border line insane.

Haha that does sound all too consuming!

  • April 5, 2012 Jill

I’m an over-the-top-toilet-paper-roll girl too. But probably the weirdest quirk I have is if I’m in the car and I need to take my coat off, I ask my husband to grab one sleeve and pull hard and if he doesn’t do it, like, RIGHT AWAY or hard enough so I can get my arm out asap, then I freak out…I think it’s a claustrophobic thing. I mean, I FREAK OUT!! Makes him laugh every time.

yes, we are a toilet paper goes over family too.

and I don’t like one lonely thing left in a box either. Especially cookies. Must eat those.

When I eat m&ms I have to eat all of one color, and then another, and so on.

And when I eat combos, I have to suck the cheese out of the middle and then eat the cracker part.

    Yup, I’m weird.

M&M’s require eating in pairs. Must eat two at a time, of the same color. If I end up with odd numbers I am severely annoyed.

You’re hardly weird! So, how long does it take you to finish a packet of M&M’s? Do you pour it all out into a bowl and pick the same colors to eat them? Or do you sort them first?

  • April 5, 2012 Rach (DonutsMama)

That’s funny about chewing on both the ride and left side! I’m a little weird about my clothes–I like the same colors to be next to each other. And I used to go further and separate short sleeved from long sleeved, but that was before I got married and had to share closet space!

  • April 6, 2012 Amanda

I am guessing a touch of OCD but also guess this suites you well in life. I too have some “issues” such as never leaving the sink dirty. It has to be rinsed after food has been left in there. I can’t stand a sticky, greasy, gritty sink. PERIOD.

Also, I refuse to share my bath towel. There is no reason my hubby can’t use his own and that I then have to wipe my face on his ass (pardon my language) if he does use my towel. There is no bending on this rule and we have been together for 13 years. I can share. Just NOT my towel.

Food in the fridge must be kept in order. I don’t like seeing random condiments on the main shelf that belong in the door. I just can’t have it!

I guess I may be a little OCD too but who says that is bad?!

    • April 6, 2012 Alison

I keep my condiments in the door of the fridge too!!

And who shares bath towels, that’s so gross 🙂

But with the skittles or gummy bears? I also have to eat them in even colors too. If there are 2 red and 1 green left, I’ll eat the 1 red first so that they’re even.

Your number thing sounded so much like me. It really bugs me if I am watching television and the volume is on “23” or “17”. Super annoying numbers. I usually prefer increments of 5 but can be happy with even numbers too.

I always put the keys where they belong, but my husband never does. HUGE pet peeve. At least he puts the toilet paper on the right way… when he changes the roll. 😉

But the gummi bear thing? Girl.

Michelle Longo recently wrote…Guilty Pleasures. My Profile

    • April 6, 2012 Alison

For some reason, 7 is the oddest of odd for me. 3’s make 6, 9, 12, 15. Which for some reason, are ‘even’ numbers to me. 9 because it looks ’round’ and ‘even’, 15 because it’s an increment of 5.

I know, it seems like I’ve given the number thing too much though. Ahem. And I think you need the make a list of your quirks!
