Happy New Year!
As we say hello to 2012, I love the idea of saying goodbye to 2011 with some pictures – a wonderful idea by Robin of Farewell Stranger, with her link up Farewell to 2011 in Pictures. I’m also linking up with Jessica of Four Plus An Angel and Ashley of Porch Swing Mom for their 12 Things 2011 link up!
As I look through thousands of pictures, I realized that most of them were of my son. That pretty much sums up the year for me – his 2nd year has been full of milestones, achievements, growing, joy, and yes, some challenges.
I love this picture, taken by my husband. We were on a short holiday in Singapore and just had a leisurely Sunday brunch at a local cafe. Monkey and I were hanging out, people watching.
Monkey’s first drawing! (Okay, I drew the heart) It was one of many firsts for him this year.
I started this blog on March 29. I was really into online shopping and looking up awesome things for Monkey (and myself) and found myself sharing my finds on my personal Facebook page. Then I thought, why not start a blog to do that instead? So I thought of a blog name to describe the blog – Mama’s Finds? Mama Thinks You Should Get This Awesome Children’s Toy? Found By Mama? I landed on Mama Wants This!, registered with Blogspot and off I went. I think my first seven posts were all of products I love. Then I started reading other blogs, and started writing my own motherhood stories. Needless to say, where this blog is now, is far from where it started.
Self-portrait of the two of us.
I rarely show my husband’s picture here, but this is one of my all-time favorites. An un-posed, natural picture of my two favorite people. I’d just started taking pictures in earnest with my (then)new semi-DLSR camera, and was pleasantly surprised at how well this turned out.
Monkey discovers bubbles! He’s still fascinated. (and so am I)
July was a big month for Monkey – he weaned from breastfeeding and he moved into his very own bed in his very own room. There may have been tears (mine).
It was also a big month for me – I moved the blog to WordPress and got a whole new look! Which I still love.
I started cooking again in August after a long hiatus and this delicious Spicy Olive Pasta, recipe courtesy of Jen of The Misadventures of Mrs B, got me off to a great start. It’s still one of my favorite go-to recipes.
This happened on September 3.
We finally moved into our long-awaited new home this month. I fell in love immediately. Although I don’t recommend moving house when you’re 8-10 weeks pregnant!
The pregnancy reveal and first belly picture at 14 weeks. It felt good to cross into the second trimester safely after a worrying first trimester (who doesn’t worry in the first 13 weeks?)
Someone turned two! I know, he looks a little distressed, but no toddlers were harmed in the photographing of this picture. It was an umpteenth attempt to take a picture with him and he wouldn’t stay still, so, er, this was the result.
Oh, we also found out that Scrumplet is a boy!
Okay 2012, BRING IT ON!!
