I met Rach of Life Ever Since, very early on when I started this blog – she wrote me a lovely email asking me if I could write a guest post, and I was all Squee, she likes me and wants me to write her something! I love chatting with Rach on Twitter – she’s funny, insightful and sweet. Her blog posts reflect that too. My favorites include this funny one about how she’s not cut out for sports (complete with a hilarious drawing); this one about her first year as a mom, and she shows her how crafty she is when she made this adorable Halloween costume for her beautiful daughter!
And? Today is Rach’s BIRTHDAY!! Join me in wishing her a fabulous, wonderful birthday.
I just love this girl. Welcome, Rach to my bloggy home.
1. When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in January after my daughter was born to record all the moments of being a new mom. After about 2 blog posts, I realized I had zero time and stopped for a few months. I started again in April, but over time the blog has become an outlet for me and the thoughts that are churning in my head. It’s become a personal online diary.
2. What do you love most about blogging?
The friendships! And the great advice and encouragement I receive with my posts. My blogging friends have been so good to me and really have been there for me, even though we’ve never met. It’s nice knowing that I’m being heard and understood.
3. Who is your favorite blogger ever?
Oh, this is so so tough! I want to name so many. The Empress really took me under her wing when I was struggling both as a new blogger and new mom. She really helped me through a rough patch. Then of course there’s Julie (Mama Mash) who’s helped me so much with cooking and meal planning and who’s become a dear friend. And my friend Story whom I feel like I can tell anything to…then there’s Mamas Monologues, you, Jen Has A Pen, Ali (Suitcase full of Tricks)…wait, I’m only supposed to name ONE???
4. Is there a post you regret publishing?
No. I might look back at older posts and cringe just a little because they’re not as great as I thought they were when I first published them. But I guess it’s all about growing and evolving as a writer and person so I’m ok with even the silly posts.
5. What do you love most about being a Mom?
Well, we haven’t started this yet since Donut is so little, but I’m excited about doing activities with her like crafts, or baking. Right now I just love spending time with her and seeing the world fresh through her. She reminds me stop and savor the smallest moments, like looking at the lights on our Christmas tree.
6. What’s your favorite time of the day?
Well, as much as I love Donut, I do look forward to bedtime! I have a sense of accomplishment by the end of the day and I eagerly anticipate when I can have some time just for myself to indulge in dessert or a glass of wine. And my computer!
7. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
The beach, hands down. I love the weather, the water, the easygoing lifestyle. I feel so carefree and renewed when I’m at the beach. I made my husband promise to buy me a beach house if we ever win the lottery.
8. What could you eat every single day?
Bread. Any kind. I’m a carbaholic.
9. Favorite season and why.
I love fall. For some reason, I see fall as a renewal time. Maybe because school always started in the fall and it was something new. That feeling has stayed with me. I just love how the weather is in between super hot and really cold and of course I love all the fall flavors–apple cider, pumpkin anything.
10. One word to describe you.
Just one? Indecisive? Ha! I’d say loyal. Maybe to a fault.
11. I hear you knit – do you do other crafty things?
I love to knit. I’m also learning to sew and love it. I used to scrapbook but it’s been a while. I really love being able to look at something in a magazine or online and figure out a way to make it myself. It’s not always pretty but it’s fun!
12. What are your hopes and dreams for the next 12 months?
My main goal, which is going to sound incredibly boring, is to be organized and to live purposefully. I feel like I have so much clutter and stuff in my life and I want to clear it out to make way for newer, nicer things, whether it be a new sweater or a healthier relationship. And course I’m excited to see Donut grow and develop into her own little person. I can’t wait to see more of her personality!
