Tips, Ideas and Advice

posted in: Tips, Tips, Ideas and Advice 0 comments

Occasionally, I get an idea I can’t get out of my head. So I’m going to put it out there and go with it.

If you’ve read my blog long enough, you’ll know I’m a list junkie. But did you know I also like to collect tips, ideas and advice? Ever since I became a mother, I’ve been hungry for information. How to start solids, what’s the best baby carrier, how to co-sleep safely, games to play with a toddler, how to wean, and on and on and on. I find a lot of great advice from friends on Facebook when I ask via my status update. I also get great tips and ideas on public forums on parenting out there.

My conclusion? People are sharers. People love to share their tips, ideas and advice. Isn’t that wonderful?

This is the idea. Each week on Tuesday, I will to ask you for tips, ideas and advice on a topic. If you want to share, please email me your tip, idea or advice and the following Tuesday, I will post the top tips, attributing the contributor accordingly (by name, blog name and Twitter handle). I will also ask for tips for a new topic then!

And if you have something you need help on, email that along too and I’ll post your question/ topic! As this is a family friendly blog, let’s stick to family friendly topics such as anything concerning children of all ages, household-related issues, cooking and or baking (recipes, tips, menu planning etc), and you can even ask questions about blogging (e.g. Blogger versus WordPress, what is BlogFrog, what writing communities should I join etc).

ย Does this sound like fun? I do hope you’ll join in. Pretty please? I mean, look I even have a button!

I’ll kick it off with this:

ย I live in an apartment, with little or no access to a backyard, patio or playground. Do you have any fun age-appropriate indoor activities to suggest for an 20 month old toddler?

Please email your tips, ideas and advice, or question/ topic you want me to highlight, by Friday, September 9, 10.00 p.m. (EST) to: mamawantsthis{@}gmail{.}com

I really hope this will take off, but I won’t be able to do this without your support. I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you!

Linking up with lovelinks #22.

I think it’s a great idea…and is there anything you don’t do. You have super powers don’t you…that would explain the ‘no sleeping ever’ thing you have going on!
I have no advice for you however. My answer would be: nap time. Put him to bed. Isn’t it nap time yet?

Haha! Thank you, I don’t have super powers, I’m just incredibly dumb. And nap time? Nap time only covers 2 hours of the many hours the little man is up and about.

  • September 6, 2011 Lola

I love this idea, but I think I can be relatively sure that my ideas won’t actually make it to your blog. No worries. I can just leave geniusy comments.

Personally, I believe that there are endless indoor activities that your toddler will enjoy that can also lighten your load as a mom. Sorting and folding laundry, cleaning the inside of the oven, changing lightbulbs, vacuuming, toilet scrubbing, the fun goes on and on! Did you know that your toddler can be trained to use the blender to bring you cocktails? It’s true! It’s why G-d gave them 10 little fingers. A couple of those are superfluous.

    • September 6, 2011 Alison

Hahahaha you funny lady! I do set the toddler to work – he likes to ‘sweep’ and ‘mop’ the floor, and use up endless wet wipes to ‘clean’ the surfaces. He’s very helpful for a 20 month old.

I definitely think this could take off, Alison. Although I have no tips or advice for this week’s topics because I’m wondering the same thing! We have plenty if outside play areas, but on rainy days the panic sets in. Her blocks and Legos and various other assortment of toys only occupy her for so long. And the child does NOT watch TV! So, I’ll be checking in next week to see what people have to say. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Alison!

Thank you for your well wishes and compliments on our little princess ๐Ÿ™‚ Will try to update the blog whenever I can, do check out my Facebook page as I’m on FB more often ๐Ÿ™‚

Btw, although I stay in a landed property, most of the time, we’re in our bedroom aka playroom, so indoor activities tend to be around the TV (Sesame, bible action songs, Disney movies etc), iPad (games, ebooks, puzzles etc), drawing, sticker books, Mega Bloks, or even water pool in our balcony.
