Standing Taller

posted in: Just Be Enough, List of 10 0 comments

For a long time, I did not really believe in myself. I would convince myself I wasn’t that good at something, or if I was, that I would lose interest eventually.

Then I joined the team at Just.Be.Enough., with its wonderful message of standing taller, of carrying the weight of empowerment rather than of our flaws. Just what this girl needed.

For a list maker, I haven’t made one for a while, so here’s a list of how I stand taller in various aspects of my life.

  1. Believe that I can write.
  2. Believe that I can cook.
  3. Believe that I can bake.
  4. Believe that I have a decent sense of style.
  5. Believe that I am a good mother.
  6. Believe that I am a good friend.
  7. Believe that I am the best wife and friend to my husband.
  8. Believe that I am an awesome sister.
  9. Believe that I am more patient than I think I am.
  10. Believe that I am a pretty darn good blogger.

I would like to test your claims that you can cook and bake. Please mail me a bunch of samples at the earliest possible time.

This should also prove whether you are a good friend or not.

I would love to, but I suspect the postal system will not do my baked goods justice. Pictures will have to do. That, or you can take a plane ride to my neck of the woods, I’d be happy to make you dinner and dessert.

I have always wondered why the genders approach ability so differently(warning–oversimplified stereotypes follow)–women seem to naturaly assume that they can’t do anything, and men seem to naturally assume that there is nothing that they can’t do.

I hope that more women begin to take on the attitude that you are adopting–that although people may not be able to do things on a professional level the very first time they try, there is nothing that they can’t do, and if they want to achieve at the highest levels, there is nothing stopping them.

    Great list.
