August 17. I turn 35 today. Birthdays are kinda a non-big-deal in my household, which is perfectly okay with me. We don’t do cakes, candles, songs, celebrations, parties. But this year, I want to make a big deal for me, for my blog. Thank you for celebrating with me, for reading, for supporting.Β

35 today.

0-5: Daddy’s girl. Could do no wrong.

6-10: Middle child syndrome in full bloom. Opinionated, sharp tongue, bad ass attitude. Parents – not impressed.

11-12: Puberty. Bah.

13-17: Seeds of self-doubt planted. Teen years are a bitch when you have to compete with prettier, smarter girls. Aware of obvious favoritism on the home front.

18 – 22: Self-discovery. Self-destructive. Self-loathing. Self-love. Independence.

23 – 27: First job, first love, first promotion, first heartbreak, first devastation. Self-doubt seeds have sprouted leaves.

28-32: True love. True joy. True happiness. True completeness. Self-doubt slashed and burnt.

33-35: Motherhood. Blogging. Friends. True self. I am enough.

Do you have a story to share about how you celebrate you? If so, write your post and link up withΒ Just. Be. Enough. every Monday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I’m not a big birthday celebrator either, but 35 was a big one for me. For some reason 35 was the age that I considered “grown up” my whole life. Kind of the age where people HAD to listen to you because you’re an adult.

    • August 17, 2011 Alison

Yes, somehow 35 seems significant compared to the other ’30 somethings’. Er, no one listens to me in this household. Least of all the short one known as the toddler………….
